Coco Montoya is a powerhouse of modern blues, renowned for his fiery guitar work, emotive vocals, and electrifying live performances. A self-taught, left-handed guitarist who plays with the strings upside down, Montoya honed his craft under the mentorship of blues legends Albert Collins and John Mayall. His solo debut, Gotta Mind to Travel (1995), earned him the Blues Music Award for Best New Artist, propelling him into the spotlight.

Over the years, Montoya has released a series of acclaimed albums, including Ya Think I’d Know Better (1996), which reached No. 10 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart and was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. His 2019 release, Coming In Hot, was recognized by AllMusic as a ‘Favorite Blues Album’.
